Premier League, September 22 2019
Kanté (71)
Alexander-Arnold (14)
Firmino (30)
Liverpool continued their winning start to the Premier League, securing their sixth victory from six when goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino inspired a 2-1 victory away to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. César Azpilicueta celebrated what he believed was an equalising goal shortly after Alexander-Arnold’s fine opener, but his effort was ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee and Firmino’s header then extended the visitors’ lead. An individual effort from the influential N’Golo Kanté ensured a nervy finish for Jürgen Klopp’s team, but they held out to restore their five-point lead over rivals Manchester City and ensure Frank Lampard’s wait for a home victory as Chelsea’s manager continues. Liverpool’s 34 goals from set-pieces since the start of 2018/19 gives them seven more than any other team in the Premier League in that period.
