Vítor Pereira
Porto, 2011-2013
In this superb Coaches’ Voice Masterclass, Portuguese manager Vítor Pereira explains the tactics he employed to great success during his time in charge of Porto.
Pereira assisted André Villas-Boas during the treble-winning 2010/11 campaign, in which Porto added the Europa League to a domestic double. He then took the reins himself, guiding Porto to back-to-back league titles in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons, losing just one game in 60 Primeira Liga fixtures.
In this exclusive Masterclass, Pereira explains the tactics he employed with a team that included such talents as João Moutinho, James Rodríguez, Nicolás Otamendi, Danilo and Jackson Martínez.
He explains his attacking principles – including the importance of different rhythms – and how they implemented a high press and mid-block.
